Back to school
Starting the school year in a building we know with no boxes to unpack has made for a much smoother start than last year. Our 20 new students came in wide-eyed and nervous on the first day, but they are settling in well. It has been heart-warming to see our returning students welcome in their new friends by showing them to their classroom or helping them with their shoe laces.
We also have two new teachers – one taking over Grade 2 and another pioneering Grade 5. We have added Grade 5 this year in keeping with our growth plan of adding a grade every year until we reach Grade 7 in 2021.
Through a generous donation we were able to take the whole school on a trip to Bugz Play Park in the second week of term. The children had a wonderful time and it helped kick the year off with a joyful tone.
On the same day as the outing we heard that we have received in-principle approval to purchase a vacant piece of land next to our school building. Buying this property will allow us to complete our campus by building additional classrooms and developing a playground and small sports field. But we need to raise R1.2 million to buy it. If you would like to contribute, please get it touch with us.
2019 is off to a good start at TCC and promises to be an eventful year – we look forward to sharing the journey with you.
