“I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people.”
― Maya Angelou

We believe that children on the Cape Flats can become the heroes of tomorrow. Our purpose is to be their sidekicks – to help them grow and learn in preparation for whatever their future holds. We think that the best way to do this is to surround them for as long as possible with people who will both love and challenge them every day. By adding a grade a year since 2012, we first developed a preschool and we are now past halfway in developing a primary school, because we want to invest years of care and instruction into each child.

A defining moment in our story came last year when we outgrew our initial campus and had to either stop growing or buy, renovate and move into a new campus. If you have been following our journey, you will know that we made the leap, even though we had to use up all our reserves and raise a lot of extra donations. We’ve been in the new building for five months now and it has been an answer to many prayers – we added Grade 4 this year, we have a bigger kitchen in which to cook daily meals for the 90 children, we have the space to continue chess and music lessons and we’ve added a volunteer-run sports programme and reading club.

But the growth has also meant that we are running at a monthly deficit, which we cannot keep doing after spending our reserves on the new building.

If you believe in our vision, would you consider making a donation or becoming a regular sponsor? Any donation, big or small, will help us to keep investing in these future heroes.
