“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour …
a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
This saying from Ecclesiastes was demonstrated to us twice this month. The photo to the left shows the team of athletes from Wheaton College who spent their spring break here at Trinity Children’s Centre through the Wheaton Football Ministry Program. These daring young men put their minds and bodies to the test as they constructed a brand new jungle gym for our students. They also shared with the students what following Jesus means to them. The children waited with great anticipation as they watched the jungle gym coming together day by day, and once it was done they wasted no time in testing the durability of every plank, pole and bolt through their enthusiastic play. We were encouraged by the team’s willingness to travel over 16 000 km to partner with us; and two weeks in we can report that the jungle gym is standing firm.
Greenpop and Adept Advisory:
Our other partnership opportunity was with Greenpop and Adept Advisory in the form of a tree planting day. The Greenpop team taught our Grade 1 students as well as the Adept team how to plant a tree to give it the best start in its new home, and then we broke into small teams to plant five trees in our playground and five more in the park we oversee next door to our school. The teams got their hands dirty to the tune of the revised pop hit You make me feel like mulching, and finished off by naming and watering the trees they had planted. If you, your family, your church or your company would like to partner with us, get in touch – two are better than one!
